The Pond
This pond is a natural feature of the ranch that has been enhanced by Urbani and Associates under the direction of Alex Fox.  Alex has now set up his own businesses enhancing and creating private fisheries on ponds, creeks and springs throughout the United States.  This pond is naturally fed by an underground spring at the southwest (far right) end of the photo.  It is home for more than 400 large fish including wild brown and brook trout and planted rainbow and cutthroat trout.

The Nez Perce tribe, used the spring as a resting and watering place, and many artifacts can still be found around the head of the spring; most notably arrowheads.

Susan and I used the money left to us in my parents' estate to enlarge the pond and make it into a wonderful, albeit small, private fishery.  We have since dedicated it to the memory of my wonderful parents, who passed within three weeks of each other in late 1997.  My father would be proud to have a fishing pond dedicated to him.  My mother would have preferred if we had cleaned up the algae in the pond and used the money for new furniture.  In the end, this should endure better than a new sofa.
